Craving for something sweet? Something new and different? Then Shugatori should be on your café hunting list!

You see, my friend pulled me into this café hunting hobby and this dessert cafe is one of the first destinations I've explored so far. The café is located in Damansara Utama, also known as uptown. It is among the many shop lots surrounding the new Starling Mall. If you're from PJ, you should know this location. Come on. Please tell me you have a life and that you're not living under a rock.
My friend and I went on a Friday, 30 minutes after its doors opened for business. Therefore, it wasn't crowded. Score! We even managed to pick the best spot at the café.
My first impression of the place was the amazing interior design and setting the café had. The ambience had a minimalistic and modern touch to it. With the afternoon sun hitting the white painted walls, it makes the place bright and even more aesthetic. They had modern furniture which I'm not surprised if they got it from IKEA - and the decorations were mostly made of paper scoring art.

Since it is a dessert cafe, they only serve confections and beverages. Shugatori is most well known for their toast, waffles and pancakes which are available in different variations. We ordered the Atlantis waffle which looked pretty delicious and Instagram worthy from the menu. I was feeling a little fancy schmancy, so I went ahead and ordered a Rose Latte. In total, the two foods that we ordered came up to about RM 40 including service charge.
It took around 10-15 minutes for our orders to arrive and when they did arrive, my friend and I started taking pictures of our food like what typical foodies would do. Then, we dive right into eating the waffle.

The waffle was sweet, obviously. However, what made it even better is the different textures you can get from the ingredients. The black purple waffle was chewy and soft. With the blueberry syrup, the icing sugars and marshmallows really make your mouth water for more. The ice cream made it even better by balancing the sweetness with a vanilla flavour.
Then, I went on tasting the Rose Latte. It tasted like a normal latte but there is a tinge of rose essence in the drink. Do I like it? Yes, I did! I've never had a rose flavoured beverage before and Shugatori impressed me with their latte. Also, I didn't know latte meant milk in Italian. However, that's not the case. It's a latte. It's coffee, not milk.

The music playlist they had played on in the café was so calming and soothing to the ears. It makes people have more energy to have a conversation in my opinion. One of the acoustic cover songs I heard was Young Blood by Graeme James. My, it put me in a relaxed mood instantly.
The weather outside was warm and sunny that day. The café had air-conditioning to eliminate the heat and the sunlight just makes it feel like we were just right at home, or even better. We spent quite awhile in the café talking. Discussing about our ambitions and plans for the unknown future. We even discovered that Shugatori does provide custom services for private events for customers. It made my friend felt pretty stoked. Soon after, we left the place with a smile on our faces. Besides, what's better than spending time at a dessert cafe on a Friday afternoon?
Will I ever go back for another dessert and cup of coffee? Yes!- and with more friends or family members.
Overall, it's a 7.5 out of 10 for me!
